A short interview with Final Fantasy VII Remake director Tetsuya Nomura reveals that being able to produce an episode based specifically on Yuffie allowed the game’s creators a little more freedom to develop her story.
The legendary director, who played a part in the Parasite Eve and Kingdom Hearts series, as well, said he has not changed his perspective much on the Wutai ninja since she debuted in the original Final Fantasy VII in 1997.
“Yuffie is an energetic and straightforward character,” he said in the interview, which was posted on PlayStation’s blog. “That being said, as this episode is centered around her, I believe we were also able to depict her sensitive side.”
The Yuffie Kasaragi episode is the highly anticipated first DLC/upgrade for the Final Fantasy VII Remake, which will release on June 10.
The Remake launched in the spring of 2021 to critical acclaim and the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is expected to enhance the original game along with introducting Yuffie using the PlayStation 5’s enhanced hardware.
