June 2021: What we’re playing

As you would expect, Everything Video Games is run by gamers. So every month we will give our impressions of the games we are playing along with a quick look at the ones we expect to start playing very soon.

Let us know in the comments what games you’re obsessing over and which games you’re about to beat.

What we’re playing

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Mass Effect Legendary Edition: We mentioned this in May and we are not too far into this space adventure. But the little we have been able to see has us satisfied. This probably isn’t the first blog to say this but it feels like we’re playing a scifi television show and we’re here for it.

Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil VIIIage: Like Mass Effect, this is a game that we have yet to really dive into but the little we have creeped in has been, well, creepy. For decades, we have been Resident Evil fans but felt it lost its way in recent years. That was, until 7 revived it. Eight is a great follow up.

MLB 21

MLB The Show 21: Well, this is the only repeat entry this month and for good reason. We are big sports fans over here and this game does it right. Last month, we were playing Diamond Dynasty. This month, it’s franchise exclusive, grinding away with all three Cubs levels.

What we can’t wait to play

Biomutant: Admittedly, we see the mixed reviews but we like to judge a game for ourselves and think Biomutant has an interesting concept. We also try to avoid gameplay videos of games that we will see soon enough though the few we have seen look decent. Not revolutionary. But certainly decent.

Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart

Ratchet & Clank A Rift Apart: Admittedly, the first game surprised us when it comes to playability and fun. We had to restart it a couple of times before we really got into collecting bolts to upgrade our gear. This sequel is supposedly going to be a showcase of some of the cool hardware baked into PlayStation 5. OK. Let’s get it.

Horizon II: Forbidden West

Horizon II Forbidden West: OK, yes, we know this game isn’t coming out until likely the holiday season. But new gameplay and footage shared by the team at Guerrilla Games immediately boosted our excitement for this game. You can see that footage AT THIS LINK RIGHT HEEEEEERE!
